2009 Inductees

Dave Weber, Omaha sportscaster and Hall of Fame M.C., and Barb Velinsky, Mayor Jim Suttle’s coordinator of special projects.

City of Omaha

The Big O gets a big thank-you from the Corporate Cup.  To pull off an event of this magnitude takes an enormous amount of cooperation from city staff.  And we get that cooperation in spades.

Sarah Emanuel, Jaime Nekuda and Kyle Meyer, Dean of Allied Health.

Nebraska Medical Center

From the very first Corporate Cup, the Nebraska Medical Center has been running, walking and healing.

Erin Sullivan with John Thomas, technical race director for 26 years and fellow Hall of Fame member.

Erin Sullivan

Erin is a winner as an athlete, and also as a volunteer to conquer lung disease.

Bob Garcia, Omaha Public Schools

Bob wins our vote as the Corporate Cup Iron man.  This two-time winner (1986 and 1987) has compiled a phenomenal record.  More than 20 years after his first win, Bob is still running the 10-kilometers in under 37 minutes.

Midwest Airlines

In the highly competitive world of airline travel, Midwest has generously provided round-trip tickets, to anywhere they fly, to dozens upon dozens of team captains and fund raisers who are so vital to our success.

John Thomas

John Thomas has been our race director for 25 years.  During his tenure alone, we have raised more than $2 million to fight lung disease in this state.  He suggested so many of the features you enjoy today in the Corporate Cup, including the street party, the 2-mile walk course, chip timing, the concept of seeding runners for safety purposes and many more.  We simply could not have done it without him.

Mark Adamson

Mark is the father of the Omaha Corporate Cup.  As a lung association employee in 1981, he started a ball which is still rolling today, more than $2 million and 1 million miles later.

Prendergast Family

Volunteers are our heroes in making race day work.  The Prendergast Family has been with us for 26 years, selflessly giving of themselves so that others can breathe.

Warren Distribution

This company literally wears its company pride, and support for the Omaha Corporate Cup, on its sleeve.  Their company headquarters are adorned with a display of team T-shirts any museum would envy.

Christy Nielsen

Ask anyone who has accomplished it, and they will tell you winning the Omaha Corporate Cup is a supreme athletic challenge.  Winning it four times definitely places you in a league of your own.  That’s Christy.

Omaha Police Department

Twenty-seven years of professionalism, safety and service mark the backbone of the Omaha Corporate Cup’s relationship with the Omaha Police.  The police have faithfully provided safe escorts since the first event.

Gary Julin

Just like the Omaha Corporate Cup, Gary Julin has come a long way (a 23-year stretch of running every day), over a significant expanse of time.  It’s a perfect match.
